Empowering communities through sustainable initiatives since 1997
SELVA Trust has been working in the social sector since 1997. The work has spread across many platforms with the support of various funding organizations.
After working in pockets for all these years, we are now working with 1000 women in five villages of Thiruvarankulam Block of Pudukkottai District. Dignity Asbl is supporting us in the "Improvement of Livelihood of 1000 single women in Pudukkottai" for three years from May 2024 to April 2027.
A collective platform enabling Single Women to produce and market their products, building sustainable livelihoods through training, production, and a new integrated retail and admin hub.
For over 15 years, continuous interactions have helped Single Women rebuild confidence, support their families, and start small income-generating activities with dignity.
With a grant of €1500 from Dignity Asbl (via CWS), meals were served to 600+ people over three days, wages were paid to Single Women cooks, and cooking vessels were provided—now sustaining a woman's catering livelihood.
With many women producing pickles, condiments, snacks, and garments, a larger platform was needed to market their products. This led to the creation of PAVAI MAHALIR SHG—an unregistered society of Single Women across five villages in Thiruvarankulam Mandal, Pudukkottai.
